Design Tips

Designing and building anything from scratch is immensely rewarding. You can be sure that whatever you chose to make will be unique and a true expression of the personality of the creator. Design can be a daunting process. There will be many choices – and often the first design idea that enters your head is not the best option. You will need ways to express and evolve your designs.

A sharp pencil and lots of paper is often the best way to get options down but you can certainly make life easier by using digital tools to refine ideas. Using digital tools can be an art form in its own right. We’ve picked a few of tools, FreeCAD , Sketchup and Kerkythea that are easy to use and work well.

Here at HWM Designs we like to follow craftspeople that create great work in metal. On our inspiration page we’ve added a few useful sources of great design.
